Calculation Blood Alcohol Concentration

Calculation of alcohol blood concentration

The formula:

C = A / (p x r)

C: The concentration in %
A: the alcohol intake in g
p: the body weight in kg
r: a distribution (or reduction factor), dependent on the constitution of the
individual:
women and fat men: 0.6
average constitution : 0.7
thin men: 0.8

Example:
A male person (70 kg, average constitution) drinks one liter of beer (5% alcohol by volume)

A= 39.5g (5x10x0.79)
C= 39.5 / (70×0.7) = 0.81 %

In the UK 1 unit of alcohol is 10 ml of ethanol, which is 7.9 grams.
